HI,
My expirience with blog was really interesting and helpful. When you have a huge class and not everyone have a chance to tell what they think, blog is very helpful. Everyone had a chance to say something after the class. It makes you think and analyze what happened in the class and you had something to thnk about because it wasn' t a boring lecture but an interesting discussion about management. For me personally, this blog was really helpful because at my job we have a really "difficult" manager. Sometimes i had feeling just to tell her to take her management classes again or least offer her to read our textbook. I think i 'll that when i find another job.
Professor's blog was really creative and offered some unusual comparisons between different topics ( i really enjoyed reading about Atilla the Hun). Also, blogs were 20% of the grade i think it was really easy to write blogs at the appropriate time , but to respond to blogs was really tricky. Not everyone in the class posted their blogs on time that's why i personally waited to read other blogs and post comments to them. I still have to do some comments but towards the end blogs would be more creative and interesting cause people like to wait until the last minute.
I hope i'll continue posting blogs cause i'll still need advice about my job and future oportunities .

Poem.
It is snowing , its December
And u already know
What’s gonna happen
In the next semester.
But when you think about it
Managers plan every step that they take
So basically, even if you not Management major
You are still MANAGER of your life.
And u already know
What’s gonna happen
In the next semester.
But when you think about it
Managers plan every step that they take
So basically, even if you not Management major
You are still MANAGER of your life.

The ABC's of DISC
Hi everyone,
In the last class we took the test that helped us to determine our leadership/management skills . So, basically there are four types of different managerial skills like D, I, S, C. My results i think were accurate because it did described me and the way i like to solve different assigments. My results were C and D, i absolutly agree with that cause it says that im concentrating on key details, analyzing performance critically, being diplomatic with people and etc. Basic description for this type of people is that these people have a emphasis is on working conscientiously within exiting circumstance to ensure quality and accuracy. I like this description and for sure i don't want to be I or S, because that is just not me. Also, i think that this is a great test for new employees because you can get tasks that you can do in the better way than others. In personal life, this test also can be helpful because you would know how to behave with certain people the right way. Also, why ceratin people just can't be with each other .

Im going to graduate, i hope, in a few years ( 1.5)..luckily i would be able to find a good job with a great pay . Basically , everything that i want to do is concerned with fashion. I would love to work for a company like Chanel, Ralph Lauren or somebody else. It all depends what kind of internships im going to get in the future. Also, if that doesn't work out, in the beginning i could probably become a buyer for one of the major department stores like Bloomingdales, or Saks. Besides looking for internships, i also work at Macys as an associate. Cosmetics department, in which i work, is pretty interesting field to be working for, but not for me. i can;t imagine spending more time with lotions, creams and masks , i would just kill myself. because you see it almost everyday and most of the time it is the same. Another fiels that sounds interesting to me is publishing. i really admire people like Anna Wintour because she is able to do such an amazing work as an editor at Vogue. I don't know if the movie "Devil Wears Prada" was about her but i would love to work for her when i graduate. I think she is amazing and i really admire her .

Decision Making
First time ever, in my expirience, proffesor or teacher, gave students a chance to decide what to do with their grades for the first test. A lot of people would agree with me that it was a complete chaos and it seemed that we were not goinh to make decision on what to do with it. I, personally, decided to be active( give some ideas) because i got 70 on the test and i wanted a better grade. I know that some people in class did not want other people to get better grades because they were not studing and etc. That was absolute shock for me, i would never think that some people might actuslly do that. Okay, i agreed that 25 extra points is too much, but 10 was enough...but nooo people didn't want other to get these points. Anyway, on the end one guy almosr ruined everything. I swear that after i heard him i almost had heart attack...how could he do that? So, after successfully convincing him that it was positive thing and finally getting what we wanted, i think that we could have handle it differently. For example, we could have break up in several groups and have leaders of these groups argue their points. So, let's just thank our Professor for everything that he did for us and hope that next test is going to be not very hard.

Egg-cellent way to plan //
I was very lucky to be in my group because most people in my group were very cooperative and had interesting ideas how to do that. "Steps in planning" , my team actually went through steps 1 ,2, 3 and 5. Number 1 we knew our objective and how we wanted to approach that. Also, in step 2 , some people in our group actually broght some scissors and staple to make sure that we have everything stepled and cut properly. So, we used outside resources, and finally the steps 3 and 5 , we had two plans and then we just decided to put them all together. It was very successful and our team's egg did not break. I think that cooperative t eam work give best results, that anyone who is trying to do it alone.

Hi
For me to describe current problem it's not hard since i just start working at the new place. I don't just want to say that my problem is that my manager is not a very pleasant woman . She is ...but still, she can't be nice to everyone. My problem right now is that before they hired me we discussed my vacation and i told them that i want to take my vacation in January ( when we have the whole month off). They agreed to that and i started working. So, besides making my life miserable , my manager told me i can't take vacation in January because she thinks that it won't be fair to other workers ( cause they worked longer than I). In the end, she told me that she would give me the exact answer in the end of December!!! I just think that it is not fair that she would do that because i have to buy tickets in the November or in the end of October...
So, my question is: How would you deal with such manager?

brief intro
Hi
My name is Dinara and I'm a junior at Baruch College. My major for now is Management, I hope. It was really hard for me to determine what i want to do in life and I'm still not 100% sure about it. When i just came to Baruch as a freshman I had some ideas about what I don't want to do for most part of my life. I knew I didn't want to be majoring in Accounting because I couldn't imagine myself sitting in the cubicle and counting other people's money. But it is like most of the people say is a "safe" job, meaning that companies will always need accountants. But it is just for me. Other popular major at Baruch is Finance/Investments, in my opinion it feels like a man's job. I know that there are plenty of successful women in finance, but still the majority is men. I always had this image about a good financier, that it is have to be a guy in the grey expensive suit. So, basically Management was an easy choice for me. My ultimate goal is to work in the fashion industry and with time become someone like Jalene Hermann (CEO, YSL)or Tamara Mellon ( President, Jimmy Choo). These women have a great careers in the field that I just love to be a part of. I know it sounds too ambitious for some people, but i think that you must set your goals as high as possible to succeed.
